How fast is it?

Red River Wireless is a 256 kbps connection to the Internet with Full T-1 availability. It is also bi-directional, which means you don't have to tie up your phone line to upload anything. That means fast downloads AND fast uploads.

What are the advantages of a wireless Internet connection?

  1. It's fast!
  2. It's always on. That means that you don't have to dial and connect when you want to use the Internet. (You don't get disconnected either.)
  3. You don't need to use a phone line to connect. Instead of using your phone line to connect to the Internet, you can use your phone for other things (like telling all your friends how cool wireless Internet access is!)

Why does it cost so much?

The equipment involved in wireless Internet access is very expensive. Our research department has spent many months finding the lowest prices on all of the equipment so that we can charge our customers as little as possible.

What kind of equipment am I buying?

The equipment includes the antenna, the cable, a lightning arrester, jumper cables, a network card, and a network card adapter.

Do you expect the cost to go down? up?

We expect the cost to go down eventually, and when it does, we will pass the discounts on to the customers.

How long does it take to install?

Once the mast and cable are installed, it takes about an hour.

Can you service my house?

The first thing that we do is a site survey. We will send someone to your home or office who will check to make sure that your location has a line of sight to our antenna. We charge a nonrefundable $25 for this, but that $25 is credited to your first month of service if you do get wireless service with us.

Can I keep a modem in my computer?

Yes, you can. You may find that you don't use it as often, but as long as you have enough room inside your computer for the network adapter card, you can keep your modem inside your computer.

Can I hook up more than one computer?

Yes, you can. There is an additional piece of equipment to purchase, however, at a cost of $150.

Do I get an email address?

You can have up to 5 E-mail addresses with your Red River Wireless account, so everyone in the family can have their own email address.

What if there are down times?

The network is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If there is a problem, we are notified quickly and get to work fixing problems as soon as we can.
